General Investment Account-I (GIA-i)

GIA is an investment product based on Mudharabah principle where customer/depositors (rabbul mal) provides capital to the bank. The bank will act as enterpreneur (mudharib) and the fund will be utilized for financing Islamic Banking activities and invest the money in Islamic financing activities or other Syariah compliant investment. The funds collected is placed in a common pool and are normally short term in nature and suitable for funding short term financing, for example Mudharabah and Al Dayn. Profits derived from these investments will be pooled and distributed according to pre-agreed sharing ratio.

Determination Rate of Return, "R" is the weighted average rate of return on assets funded by the GIA-i deposits. Therefore "R" is dependent on the returns on assests (through financing or other Syariah compliant investments) funded by the GIA-i.

The indicative "R" shall approximate the Mudharabah Money Market rate.
